Valentines Date Night Ideas To Do in Lockdown

This post is dedicated for all you lovers out there. Doesn’t matter if you spending the day with someone or doing it virtually this year, I have found ways you can celebrate it together as we all can’t be going for a meal or drinks as usually planned.

This post is also dedicated to the girls (or boys!) who might be spending it without their loved ones or who are single and just want girl time. I feel youu. Galentines all the way – I have some ideas for your friendship group too! 💖

  1. COOKING YOUR MEAL OVER A TAKEAWAY

Not only can you save a bit of money doing this but you can also spend time together making the food. Grab your ingredients and start making your favourite food together – pizzas, burgers, pasta! Even bake together brownies, cookies or a cake! Doesn’t have to be a strict step-by-step recipe, chuck everything in one bowl and have fun with it.

2. GET YOUR FAVE FOOD IN A VALENTINES MEAL DEAL

Even though it kind of contradicts the first one, there are going to be many supermarkets doing food deals for a set price with nice food. I know we might get the M&S one for £20 and they offer a variety of food such as steak, churros, pasta dishes which include a bottle of wine and more! Whack it in the oven and all you do is the clean up after. As well, make your own cocktails or drinks!!

3. GO ON A LONG WALK

If you are unable to spend time together in the house, go on a walk together. You can take a different route than your normal scenery (obviously weather dependant too!). As well, you can also bring a picnic and sit and eat together. Yes it might not be ideal but at least it’s something and you get to see each other rather on a FaceTime screen.

4. VIRTUAL DATE NIGHT

If walking is not your thing or the weather turns bad, turn it virtually. Cook yourself (or even each other!) some food and sit and eat together on FaceTime/ Zoom like you would if you were together. As well, you can play games or even watch films at the same time.

5. HAVING A PJ DAY

Spend the day in comfies as you watch a new series or film together. Bring the duvet downstairs too and snuggle up! Bring your fave snacks or food with you too. You can also play games together if you have a console – we’ve recently found the Wii again so Mario Kart racing is a must!!

6. PERSONALISED GAMES NIGHT

The girls and I love playing a game of ‘Guess Who’ on FaceTime where we guess what part of the body or feature has been cropped from one of us or our friends. It’s a funny concept of guessing each other and remembering where we recognised the photo from! As well there are many games you can download and all still play together. I think there is a digital version of cards against humanity too.

If valentines is not the one for you, take the day off social media. Not in a malicious way of course! 🤍 But you don’t want to make yourself feel down or upset by seeing other people posts throughout the day. Just as any other day in lockdown, go on a walk, meet a friend, grab a coffee, make yourself your fave food and treat it like a self care day. Treat yo self!! See what your other friends are doing and plan a quiz in the evening or just sit, have a drink and chat!
