Our Devon Staycation 2020

We can all agree this year has become sort of a write-off. I feel we are all in the same boat regarding wanting to go away or just be somewhere else that is not our own homes. So luckily for me, I only had two holidays booked for this year – one changed to next year and the other we got our money back. We wanted to get away for a few days and we managed to book a house with a hot tub for three days in Devon!

We arrived on the Friday mid afternoon and we stayed in a little town called Moretonhampstead. It was a small town/ village with a couple of pubs and really good food places! Deffo recommend stopping by for a drink or even stay like we did.

Before we set off for the day on Saturday, we drove through the National Park. Here we saw the open fields of the Park (as you can imagine) as well as all the animals just casually sleeping or eating. Even some of the sheep were in the road just chilling. We stopped off at one of the sites for walking trails even if we did go the wrong way and end up at the end of a river by someone’s house! Afterwards, we headed around the local towns/ villages such as Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot and Chagford.

Sunday was meant to be our beach day and most relaxing day but the tide had different plans. We drove to Teignmouth, packed up our beach gear, walked along the promenade to find that the waves were too high and too close to the railings. After a cream tea, we decided to head to Paignton which we don’t know why we didn’t just spend the day there!? Paignton was lovely! We sat on the beach and tanned for a little bit, went on the pier for the 2p machines and even had an ice cream (even though it was technically one due to a seagull incident!)

Majority of the nights we were out for food and spent an hour or two in the hot tub. Although I love a good hot tub break, this one was too hot for us! The temperature wasn’t going down at all. it’s a shame we didn’t make much use of it but if we had a another day I’m sure it would have gone to more use.

On Monday, home day, we stopped at Sidmouth which again was lovely! Another day place we would like to see again or go there for the day. We had an ice cream on the seafront (no seagulls this time) before making our way back home and completing the holiday!
